Hey guys!

we started this group because there was not a lot of possibility for
interaction apart from the github wiki (https://github.com/nodecampeu/
nodecamp.eu-2011/wiki/Where%3F-What%3F-When%3F) which hasn't really
caught on.

We've been getting a number of individual questions concerning ride
sharing, couch surfing, hotels etc and thought this would be a better
possibility to discuss and organize.

We've also had a couple of people who have suggested talks. As the
"Speaker" section of the site is already a little congested and we
want this to be more of a barcamp/audience participation type event,
we'd be interested in hearing from you what sort of thing you'd like
to talk about at the camp, or perhaps plan some hack sessions or
workshops.

Anyhow, looking forward to hearing from you all!
Cheers,
-tim

(Incidentally: any ho(s)tel around the center of town is fine, Cologne
is not that big and public transport is pretty good.)

I was planning to give a talk about JavaScript performance. But
instead of giving a talk I can just host a Q&A session about V8
internals or have a performance optimization workshop, e.g. take some
open-source NodeJS library and dig into it (together with author) to
find places that can be optimized.

I am open to suggestions.

I think you'll be fine going into details. I would equally appreciate
a talk or an an ad hoc workshop. Whatever is more convenient or
whatever you feel more comfortable with will be great.

While I understand the reason for having a barcamp styled event, I do
think it's
important to have a small list of people who are interested in
speaking, and which
subject they want to speak about. Because having 10 people speaking
about the
same subject isn't gonna help anyone.

But having a small list would also fuel the excitement and interest in
the event, for example
I'm thrilled to read that Vyacheslav was planning a talk on JavaScript
Performance
/ V8. As I would love to learn more about that and see how I can adopt
that in to some of
the nodejs modules that I have released / worked on.

This only makes me want to buy the tickets even more ;D

I agree, we're currently in the process of getting abstracts from the
"official" speakers and are encouraging people to discuss their topics
on the mailing list (http://groups.google.com/group/nodecampeu)

Thanks for the feedback!
