Since we're getting close to the wire I'll bring this up again.

Rick Waldron and I are really thrilled to be able to offer the Johnny Five Inventor's Kit (J5IK) for Nodebots day this year. We've been working hard with SparkFun and the Tessel team, and we'll be shipping them on the 29th of this month.

We built the J5IK specifically for Nodebots, to make it easy to learn both javascript and electronics. It comes with an Inventors Guide (which is almost complete and I'm really proud of how it's turning out) that allows for a self directed learning of both electronics and programming concepts. We chose the Tessel 2 because it's the first single board computer that you don't need to learn linux to use with nodejs which makes it really easy to use and really easy to teach. (There are only 3 commands to get started, one to name your tessel, one to setup wifi and one to deploy your code.)

If you're an organizer who's buying hardware you can get 10% off at sparkfun in exchange for listing SparkFun as a sponsor and helping promote the J5IK. Two ways you could do that are; If you're selling tickets providing a ticketing option that bundles the j5ik with a ticket. If you're not selling tickets, mentioning it exists as an easy way to get started with nodebots with a link.

The links again;

We'll be running the Boston and NYC (and possibly Troy NY) events around the J5IK and sumobot base, with a brief intro and then let people loose with the kits.

I've sent out the discount code to a bunch of cities, if you still need it please email me directly.

Also make sure to update any ticketing or event pages on our Github repo, I'm going to be using that data to link each event on the nodebots.io homepage so people can find local events more easily.

Thanks!
