After many months of development, Rick Waldron, myself and the teams at Bocoup and SparkFun have something to announce to NodeBots leaders. We'll be announcing to the general public in about a month, but since we have to start planning our events, we get a sneak peak.
Starting today, you can preorder the
The Johnny-Five Inventor Kit, a collaboration from SparkFun and Bocoup. This is an official Johnny-Five kit that comes with a Tessel 2, and it was made specifically for learning NodeBots.
What's a kit without being able to teach with it, right? So we're also releasing Experiment Guides and an open source NodeBots day Curriculum and Slides in the coming weeks.
Through our work at Bocoup, we've joined the
Tessel Project and worked to build and release the Tessel 2 (
also available for preorder), and in our opinion it's the best single board computer to use with NodeBots and Johnny-Five. In terms of ease of use and teachability it has no match. It's also a powerful chip with wifi and USB. The best part is that it's really easy to set up. We were able to get brand new users fully set up and running their own code in 5-10 minutes.
We've also put together the parts to make a
SumoBot kit, and if you don't have any tools on hand for your event, we've put together an
Event Kit too so you can have useful tools, parts and devices on hand when running a Nodebots meetup or Nodebots Day event.
Lastly, and most exciting of all (because this is usually the hardest part), SparkFun would like to be your first sponsor. They're offering a great discount on hardware to anyone running a Nodebots event this year. You'll have to email me directly for the details on that one.
We're really proud to be able to support NodeBots day this year beyond the usual stickers and shirts. Helping people and our communities make awesome things is what this is all about.
