Bechtel Realtime Web Challenge!

Attention Arizona Node.JS Developers:

Bechtel has a realtime web challenge for you!  We are interested in developing a modern single page app that showcases our innovation efforts available today including our own private AppStore, our API marketplace, our new GitHub account for open source efforts, and an upcoming technology blog.  We built a very simple page to get you started thinking about our direction.  It's available to preview online http://pomasite.nodester.com and the source code is located at https://github.com/bechtel/poma-website.  

We will be giving away an shiny new iPad 3 with a Retina display to the developer that delivers the best realtime web additions and/or redesign and/or node.js blogging engine to the site (and anything else you think we might need)!  

To participate, simply email Chris Matthieu (clmatthi [at] bechtel.com) links to preview your new site improvements along with pull requests to our GitHub project.  Feel free to enter more than once :)  We will be reviewing all of the submissions in 1 week on Monday, August 6th, 2012, and will announce a winner shortly thereafter.  Let me know if you have any questions...

I should have been more clear about our APIs. They are private and not available for public consumption.  Based on your ideas, we may be able to extend your demo using our APIs to add value to the site.

We are mainly interested in realtime web concepts and designs for our single page app including websockets for reporting on API metrics in realtime, sensor data, tweets, etc and maybe a Node.JS-powered blogging engine. 

The sky is the limit for ideas to get you entered into our iPad3 giveaway.  What do you think would make this page (http://poma.io) real-time cool?!

We just received our first submission on our Poma.io iPad3 challenge.  It's not too late to enter.  Submission cut-off time is this Monday (8/6) at 11:59PM Arizona time.

Here is his entry for http://poma.io :

- Changed the skin quite a bit

- Changed the templates to use jade

- Rendering/hashtag routing is done through dermis

- Removed some unneeded code from app.js

- Added tweets view
