Hey everyone!

Did you know that we are having an HTML5 Game hackathon @ HeatSync Labs this weekend?

Here's the link to sign up (details to follow): https://hackphxhtml5game.eventbrite.com/

This will be a 12-hour hackathon (10am to 10pm) on December 1st.
The location is HeatSync Labs - 140 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201

During the first hour, IcedDev will be giving a quick tutorial of how to get started creating a game with HTML5.

Teams will be made up of 3 people, varying in experience level.

Lunch and dinner will be provided, along with drinks.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create some sort of HTML5 Game to be judged at the end of the day.

We have an awesome 1st prize. The people (3 max) on the winning team will receive a Nexus 7 device.

If you have any questions, you can post here or email me at bla...@hackphx.org

Hope to see you on Saturday!
-Blaine

Wow, that's quite a prize! When you say the teams will vary in experience level, are you implying participants will be assigned to teams? Can/should we try to form teams beforehand?

Thanks,
 - Brian

We think the randomly assigned teams based on experience worked really well at DesertJS, so we figured we would do the same thing for this event.  I believe Luis is going to send out a list of "preparedness" a little later in the week.

Hackathon is this Saturday, and there's just 5 spots left !

A few things to help prepare.

Everyone should bring their own laptop.

Have a good text editor installed.  Sublime or something similar.

Install git, and create a github.com account if you haven't already.

Have google Chrome installed.

Any graphics tools such as gimp or photoshop, or sound tools like Audacity may be helpful as well.
