How to set up Espeak for voice announcing certain stuff?

I was searching the internet and the library and I couldn't find an espeak node.

Can someone help me how to make it work. I have espeak already installed, using Node-red on a netbook running Ubuntu 14.04.

My use case would be to annouce for example when i got a new email, or tie in mqtt sensor data and announce that, or maybe if possible announce certain gcal events. etc.

Hi, easiest things would to just call it using the exec node...

Thanks, it works :). Do you know how to change the voice, since i believe espeak has a few different voice options (male, female).

Edit the exec node and add the appropriate command-line flags to the 'espeak' command.

So if I wanted to announce You have mail, in the exec node I should put - espeak "You have mail"

What about the flow should I just connect the email node with the exec espeak node? Or do I need something in between?

Also when I tried doing this with gmail it blocked the connection (and sent me a mail that it did so).

It seems to work if I just connect the email node and the espeak node. :) Cool, this is really easy and fun.

Tho' I needed to enable "access to less safe apps" on Google account. Is it possible to circumvent that?
