Help me! Open notepad file on node-red.

Hi everybody,

I created a button on dashboard. I want to click the button to open the notepad file.

Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Do you mean you want to download it from the computer running node-red to the computer running the browser?

Currently, my computer is running Node-red and I have a notepad file in Disk C. i want to click the button to open it.

You could use an exec node to run notepad via a script I suppose. Note though, that if you opened the browser on a different computer to the one running node-red that the file would open on the node-red computer, not on the computer running the browser.

Start by deciding whether you need the text file displaying in the browser or in notepad.exe. Both options are possible with Node-RED running on a Windows PC.

Then decide how you will identify the file in question - is it always the same file? Might it change? Would it change often or might you want to select from a number of files?
