Using Node-RED with MSSQL and MSSQL Node

I am in desperate need of a primer or short tutorial on how to get this working. I am constantly running into Connection Errors trying to connect to a database. Here's and example of what I'm looking at.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where is the database server running? Can you make a connection manually from the machine running NR to the SQL server?
