Probably a dumb newbie question but I can't seem to change the switch icons from the default to a pair of on/off icons from material design.
I've done npm install material-design-icons and restarted nod-red.

The default switch icon changes position and color and I've got it working as an indicator (switch icon shows state of input)
I put 'home' or home in the on icon box after switching to custom but nothing changes.

Hi
You don't need to import the icons as they are already there. But you do need to fully specify all four custom input fields

I guess i'm not understanding what the fields are and what to put in them.

It didn't show on my cut and paste but I had home for the "on icon" and lock in the "off  icon", colors were blank, I'll try red and green, do I need quotes? lots of details are lacking in the info tab.

I just tried all four with and without quotes, nothing changed after deployed.  There is something I'm obviously not doing right.

This is what I have now and I still get the default switch state icon, anything that a newbie could have missed setting up further upstream that prevents it from working?

Thank you for this help!

It seems editing from the  dashboard layout tab doesn't work to change the node settings!  I did it for each switch node and now its working.

This is indeed the kind of thing that trips up a newbie, silly me, that thinking dashboard/layout/edit would do the same thing as opening and editing the node directly.

really ? - should be the same... hmm ... works the same for me as long as I hit Done and Deploy.

I did Done and Deploy, in fact deploy is grayed out if I don't hit Done first.

Only thing I've noticed now after poking around a bit,  is in the dashboard/layout/edit dialog the fields are surrounded in ' ' marks whereas in the node dialog where they were entered they are not.

Anyway, its working now, actually it was working good enough for my purposes with the default icons, but I'm trying to learn a bit about the details of how this all works.

no probs... I'm still not quite clear where these ' are - can you screenshot an example ?
if I open the edit panel either from the node or the dashboard/layout/edit button - it's the same panel (as long as it's the same switch)...

Its just the text in the box is surrounded by single quotes: home in the switch node dialog became 'node' in the dashboard/layout/edit dialog.

Sorry I wasn't clearer.
