Hi All - new to node-RED and having a problem getting my Arduino to talk nicely to the system. Using the supplied example of blinking LED. When I try to change the Arduino target to my port (as verified by Firmata Upload) - /dev/tty.usbmodemfa1211 node-RED tries to open this port and the OLD /dev/ttyUSB0  as well ???? Ultimately it crashes...

Tried a punch of things with no success.. kinda stuck at square one. Any thoughts from the pros?

Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,

sorry for the delay responding, but I've just realised what is happening. My guess is you have two configuration nodes defined, one for each port. Even none of your arduino nodes are using the /dev/ttyUSB0 config node, the fact it exists means it is trying to connect.

Assuming you're running the latest release (0.6.0), click the drop-down menu in the top right corner and select 'Configuration Nodes'. That should reveal two entries under 'arduino-board'. Double click on whichever one you are not using to open its edit dialog and click delete.

We should update the arduino node to only attempt to connect to firmata if there is input/output node actively wanting to use that configuration.

Nick

you can ignore it. It can't download a pre-compiled version so it makes one ( the bit below)
