msbuild.exe failed with exit code 1

I'm on windows 8.1 and I get an error when installing node-red.

gyp ERR! stack Error: 'c:\Program Files (x86)\msbuild\12.0\bin\msbuild.exe failed with exit code:1.

any ideas?  I followed the installation instructions to the letter.  I installed the linked nodejs x64 from the link provided on node-red.org

I think these errors are usually because you don't have the required dependencies for gyp.

Can you check that you have those? The MS developer libraries are typically missing and used to be difficult to get hold of. Now that Visual Studio has a free version, it isn't as hard.
