MongoDB CPP Driver wrapped for Node.js?

Hi,

Just out of curiosity, are there certain reasons why no one tried to wrap the official C++ driver as a node native addon instead of using this pure-JS driver? Am I correct to assume this will introduce great performance benefits compared to the standard Node.js one and also be a lot more light-weight to load on program startup?
