License errors in current version of Nodal

Hi all,

As some of you know, there have been issues activating Nodal recently (an error involving a web api that prevents the software from running). The cause of this problem is a change made by the company that provides the licensing system for Nodal.

We are working on a fix for this issue and hope to have a new release in the next few days that will solve the problem. I'll post a message in this group and make an announcement on the website as soon as the update is available to download.

At the moment we have also suspended any new sales of the software until the license issue is fixed.

I realise this is very inconvenient for anyone affected by the issue, we are working hard to release an update. Thanks for being patient and for your support of Nodal.

Hi Phillippe,

Yes, we are still developing Nodal, the main current efforts are keeping up to date with OS changes (particularly from Apple) to ensure a high-quality user experience.

I know people would like more regular updates, feature enhancements, etc. The difficulty for us is that we don't have a large enough user base to fund a developer full time, so we have to wait until we have sufficient sales to fund a development sprint, and the software developer has to be available at the same time. This limits the pace at which we can release updates.

We have looked at other possibilities, like making the software open-source. However the cross-platform build procedure is quite complex and the licensing code would need to be disentangled in an open-source version.

Thanks for the update. I didn't realize how fond I've become of this thing until is was gone. Simple and efficient interface, very focused workflow. It came up in demo mode just now, good interim fix.
