A three-year fully funded PhD position is available at NTNU - Norwegian
University of Science and Technology, Department of Computer Science in
Gjøvik, Norway, in the field of colour and appearance in graphical 3D
printing.
Graphical 3D printing focuses on reproducing the visual appearance of an
object, in addition to its shape, using 3D printing techniques. It
describes the optical material properties in addition to the layer-wise
fabrication of objects. In addition to traditional prototyping, some of
the known application fields include cultural heritage, medical
simulation and prosthetics, film and entertainment industry, 3D
portraits, packaging printing, etc. The selected candidate is expected
to work towards establishing a graphical 3D printing workflow with a
focus on colour and appearance of 3D printed materials and objects.
Located at the Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory

EU projects CHANGE (
https://www.change-itn.eu) and ApPEARS

https://www.appears-itn.eu). Together with the supervisors, Prof. Jon
Y. Hardeberg and Drs. Sony George and Aditya Sole, the candidate will be
able to benefit from this unique environment and international networks,
to define and carry out cutting-edge high impact research within this
exciting field.
