Yep! Have a look at

for a quick summary of an upcoming new standard (DIN 16507-2) on
metric font sizes. This is very exciting: It is really simple and
practical to use and you have no more messy conversion factors
with archaic US units, points, and picas. Let's hope this new DIN
standard will one day become as widespread in typography as the
DIN/ISO paper sizes (A4, etc.) are already today.
