Hi, I'm watching the "Getting Started" video and the first thing that
comes up in the section on the spending plan is, "Let's say your
income is $2000."

Because I work freelance, I can not state with certainty what my
income will be for a month---some are high, some are low.

Is there a way for MoneyWell take this into account?

Thanks!

What we recommend is to base your spending plan on your minimum income
and then use the extra to create a buffer for the lower months. Use
this extra income also to increase your emergency fund and reduce you
debt.

We have articles that discuss this and a new one in the wings that
addresses it more directly.

Peace,

Thanks, glad to hear that it's feasible. (Any pointers to the existing
articles?)

I just looked at the list on our Articles page and I don't see one that fully talks about flexible income. We'll have a couple more out this week that do a better job of addressing this more directly.

Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that I've posted a new article to our website entitled, "But  I have Unpredictable Income." Thank you for the article idea by the way. In reading your original post, I had strong ideas that I wanted to share with our customers based on your topic. Hope you find it useful. Here's the link:

I would like to be able to use the Allocate Income feature in MoneyWell
more often, but i have the problem of my income being spread over several
sources. Some of my income is an allowance specifically for rent etc and
it would be nice to be able to not only allocate the amount of money spent
in an expense bucket, but the preferred source (income bucket) for it to
be paid out of. This is how i do it in real life, i know that the $300
that arrives in my account every second monday is for rent, so i allocate
this manually. But if i went to Allocate Income and had several income
buckets with money in them, some of which is cash (which can't pay for
automatic payments for example), i would like for it to be able to tell
where the money from my Allowance bucket should go.

Any chance this may be possible in the future??

Thomas,

We are working on giving you more control of how Allocate Income
works. As we increase the functionality of this process, we need to
keep the complexity low as well. As soon as we find balances like this
in any part of MoneyWell, the new features are released. I appreciate
your scenario and we will work to give you solutions. Thanks!
