When I first set up my bank accounts in MoneyWell, the initial
balances didn't seem to show up in the Unassigned bucket (which is a
problem in itself). So I created a temporary "Available" bucket,
assigned the balances to that, then moved balances from there to my
other buckets. Now I want to delete that "Available" bucket, but I get
a system error beep when I try to do so. No warning message telling me
why I can't delete it... just a beep.

Actually Aaron, this is by design. Initial balances and transfers are
set so that buckets are optional. You don't want to get yelled at for
not assigning a bucket to a transfer or initial balance, that smart
bucket is designed to warn you when you have unassigned transactions
that you need to handle.

Chances are you have memorized transactions assigned to this bucket. I
do know that there needs to be more than a "beep" as a response to
this error. Now the initial balances shouldn't necessarily be assigned
to a bucket. You can do it that way, but that's what your Initial
Rollover is for. That's the amount that you tell MoneyWell is
available for spending and you assign that to an income bucket for
further allocation.

Either you misread that, or I'm not understanding you... to be clear,
the initial balances did NOT show in the Unassigned bucket. This
bucket should have shown them, by definition.

Any way to fix this and delete that bucket?
I saw reference to the "initial rollover" concept on some of the
site's tutorials after I was done, but the program didn't make this
apparent when I was setting up my accounts.

You're not understanding me Aaron. Certain transactions are exempt
from appearing in the Unassigned bucket. These include initial
balances and transfers.

The reason is that you are always going to have initial balances, but
rarely are they going to be assigned to a bucket. These are usually
just included so your current balance is correct.

Yes, you can just remove the memorized transaction using this bucket
and then you'll be able to delete the bucket. You can also use the
Activities > Revise Initial Rollover to set your initial rollover
amount and date at any time.
