A question has recently come up regarding manholes that no longer sit flush with the adjacent pavement. When we went looking for specific guidance in our own documents we found we didn’t really have anything that might have defined “how deep was too deep”. In practice, I always applied the principle that if it looks like a hazard, then see that it gets fixed. Most manholes on our roads are owned by either utilities or local municipalities.
Just curious if anyone had any specific standards that were used that you could share with me.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
