As winter maintenance activities shift to summer road tasks, another set of work challenges are once again confronted.

As we begin the spring/summer efforts so might we "begin with the end in mind" and revision roadside vegetation management practices in ways that serve many interests year round.  Perhaps there are creative ways we can meet multiple objectives.

Looking at things with a fresh set of eyes and ears is a great starting point.

This forum and the snow and ice forum have provided an excellent tool to share knowledge and experience.  When many options are presented, new ideas and concepts become the springboard for innovation.

I hope I might be able to help others while I too learn from their expertise.

Best regards for a safe and successful summer.

Sorry for the esoteric stuff/fluff!!!!!  What I meant to ask was, is anyone doing any specific vegetation modification to affect snow drifting as a component of regular right-of-way maintenance?

Also has anyone seen any research that might have looked into the idea of crash attenuation through vegetation modification?

It seems like we have to spend a lot of money on roadside vegetation management and am just curious if we can somehow get a bigger bang for our buck.
