Determining the quality of a YouTube video
The formula for determining the likely quality of a user created
YouTube video prior to actually viewing it is enormously weighted by
the age of the video on YouTube -- that is, how long ago was it
uploaded. With some exceptions of course, the longer the video has
been on YouTube, the higher the probability that it will be both
higher quality and not be AI Slop. The sweet spot seems to be more or
less between 5 and 10 years ago currently, though great ones go back
as far as 15 years ago and even older. As you reduce the time online
from 5 years toward current day, the quality factor tends to decrease
rapidly and the AI Slop factor rises almost exponentially.
