The Women's Situation Room under the auspices of the Nigerian Women's Platform for Peaceful Elections applauds the tenacity and steadfastness of  Nigerians in the exercise of their democratic right to vote.  The mass turnout of Nigerians especially the women who, despite the challenges experienced during the election process and their resilience in the face of sporadic outbursts of violence, is laudable.

The Women's Situation Room commends the Independent National Electoral Commission for being resolute in pursuing the implementation of the Electoral Process, however we note with concern incidents of late arrival of materials, malfunctioning of card readers, late commencement of accreditation process to mention but a few. We also commend the Nigeria Police Force for  ensuring law and order despite the pockets of violence and conflicts experienced in some states in the country.

The Women Situation Room congratulates the President Elect - Rtd General Muhammadu  Buhari on his victory at the recently concluded elections and commends The President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on his show of statesmanship. We appeal to all parties and stakeholders during this historic electoral process to maintain the peace throughout the nation. Nigeria must come first! Nigeria is one!

The Women's Situation Room is a process which supports women participation in the peace and stability of Nigeria.  One of its objectives is to encourage women substantive participation in the electoral process.  During the recently concluded election we deployed 300 all female team of observers to nine states and the FCT.  The Women Situation physical Room was opened on the 25th of  March 2015, had a toll free call center with 40 Incident Report Officers, who recorded incidents from the field which were resolved by the Police and INEC desks situated in the room in a timely manner.

Peace is in our Hands!
