Good Morning Parents and Students-
Our trip to DC is fast approaching (Feb 15-20) , and there are some things that need to be done within the next week or so.
1. The remainder of the Winter Congress payment, $350, is due THURSDAY JANUARY 12, to Ms. Smith in Room 112.
2. Various convention-enhancing experiences you can apply for:

For those of you that don't know, Winter Congress has what is known as "The Party System." This is a highly selective system representing four political parties: Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, and Socialist. There are 2 positions you can apply for; Chair, or Whip. A Chair is the "leader" of a party- this person will make opening and closing speeches for the party in front of the entire assembly (Midwest, Ohio River Valley, and Southeast) and direct the whips and party's efforts. Whips, on the other hand, walk from room to room throughout the convention under the direction of the chair, giving impromptu speeches on pretty much anything. If you want to speak a lot, a whip does have automatic speaking privileges, meaning that the moderator must choose them when they enter a room.
c: Bills! Get an idea of who you want to work with and what you want to accomplish, and the writing itself is the easy part.
