The Los Alamos Beer Cooperative (DBA Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op) is searching for its next head brewer. Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op opened in 2015, as the 4th cooperative brewery in the United States and resides in Los Alamos, NM.  Los Alamos is in North Central New Mexico on the high-altitude mesas of the Pajarito Plateau at the foot of the Jemez Mountains. Los Alamos is a place of uncommon recreational opportunities, small-town friendliness, world-class cultural activities, fascinating history, and world-changing technology development. Some say Los Alamos is a beer drinking town with a science problem.

This job is a 40+ hour per week salaried position.

Our ideal Head Brewer will have:

• An entrepreneurial spirit and passion for beer.

• 2-3 years+ experience as a professional brewer (preferred).

• Strong work ethic. The ability to work autonomously and work as part of a team is a requirement.

• Strong organizational and multi-tasking capabilities, strong communication skills; verbal, listening, and written.

• Ability to safely lift 55 lbs. and move 150+ lbs. on a repetitive basis.

• Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Implementing and maintaining all aspects of brewing operations.

• Taking the lead in development of beer recipes and styles.

• Selecting, purchasing, and maintaining inventory of all raw materials.

• Brewing consistent and clean products efficiently.

• Conducting and ensuring daily cleaning of all work areas including vessels, pipes, valves, heat exchanger, and sensors to ensure a sanitary and non-contaminated process.

• Transferring product safely and efficiently throughout the brewery.

• Keeping stringent records of each beer for repeatability and excise taxes.

• Engaging in research and development activities to continually improve upon quality of product and process.

• Maintaining all brewing equipment in good operating condition, calling for outside service as needed.

• Attending events to promote Bathtub Row.

• Coordinating with social media/marketing staff about beer offerings; teach serving staff how to describe and serve beer offerings. 

• Operating the brewery within the laws set forth by federal and state standards.
