Mini club competition for the June meeting

We were supposed to do this last March with our Irish beers before the pandemic wrecked that.  To kick this off our quarterly mini club competitions again, plan on brewing a wheat beer to be tasted and judged at the June meeting.

This mini competition is solely for fun and to encourage brewing a style you might not typically lean toward.  There's no obligation to join the competition and we'll still have other beer tasting like a normal meeting.

Any combo of grain, yeast and hops is acceptable as long as it has a larger than 30% wheat in the grain bill.

We will discuss this more at the May meeting, but start thinking about recipes and gathering ingredients if you want to participate!

Perfect timing, as I was planning to brew a witbier this weekend. I may do two since the witbier is barely at 30% of the grain bill.

Brandon:  Here's my problem. I intended to meet with you'all at the May meeting.  I have 12 beers on hand but my wife said I should only bring only 4 or 6 at only at one time. What does the group suggest.?

Jim,

I don't think anyone in the club will ever argue against you bringing more beer!  That being said, this will be our first meeting in over a year so I'm guessing many of us will be bringing several beers which could lead to a lot of beers to sample, haha.

Warren,

It will be in-person and we'll be meeting at Ted's newly renovated patio.  I'll send out another email before the meeting with more details.  Ted's place is roughly at Agua Fria and Osage in Santa Fe.

There will be a few changes due to covid, namely bringing your own sampling glasses.  I'll include all the changes in the reminder email as well.
