June Meeting Notes

Tom hosted and fed us for our June meeting - thank you!

• July is our summer kviek competition: anything that is fermented with a kviek yeast
• David is hosting our July meeting
• Anyone willing to host August (or September or October)?

The beers that were tasted are listed below (commercial beers in italics)

• Lorrey: Helles Lager (Chuckanut Brewery), Kölsch (Chuckanut Brewery) 
• Charles: ESB (Strong Bitter), Sockeye red (Red IPA  - midnight sun brewing)
• Ben : Oui... Hon Hon Hon... OUI! (French pilsner), Slice of Sunshine (Blonde ale with kumquats), Dreaming of a Common Language (Dry Hopped Saison - Keeping Together), Queen of the Coast (WC IPA - Pizza Port & Madewest), WC IPA (Pfriem + Westbound & Down Collab), BA Blend (barrel aged Old Ale + Red Ale)
• David: Daily Dunkel (Dunkel Weizen)
• Michael: Ebbegarden Farmhouse (Ebbegarden kviek)
• Josh D: Cyser (Cyser (honey and cider) with some orange)
• Eric: Darkness (Russian Imperial Stout Surly Brewing)
• Tom: Coffee Stout

A shoutout to Tom and Georgia for hosting and providing us with food that was both delicious and plentiful.  Interesting fact from the World Cup - the team from Scotland is staying in Boston and their fans drank so much beer that bars and restaurants had run out which is hard to imagine in a city with such a large population of people of Irish heritage. You would think they would have been better prepared.  Also, the Las Golondrinas Beer Festival is August 8 & 9.  I am a member and can usually get an extra ticket for free.  If enough of us are interested, maybe we can make it our August social event.
