Hi Everybody,

The annual camp-out is this weekend at the Santa Fe Brewing Hop Farm, near Embudo.

Members and guests are welcome to stop by and stay over.  Georgia and I will be the camp hosts – on-site from Friday evening until Monday morning.  Ted and Jo Ann will be around, we’re just taking that responsibility off their plate.  There is space for RVs, Tents, or just sleeping in your car.  If you are planning to arrive before 5 on Friday, just coordinate with me.

If you are new to camping, I’ve got plenty of advice to offer.  Just ask.

Getting there:  Search for the Blue Heron Brewery.  That is where you will enter.  The road is to the right.  Follow it until you find us.  Cell coverage can be spotty, so a printed map or directions can be helpful.  My number is 630-677-6366 if you have any questions that weekend.  Leave a message or text – just in case I’m on the river or in a dead zone.

What to bring:

  • Family and Friends
  • Beverages of all sorts.
  • Food and water
    • We’ll have enough to share
      • Burgers and chicken.
      • Some sort of sides
      • Condiments.
      • A roast for Saturday dinner
      • Stuff for breakfast.
      • Carboys of RO water
  • Swimming and floating gear.
    • Towels and dry clothes.
    • Life vests and sunscreen.
  • Chairs, shade, hats.
  • Another layer for when the sun goes down
  • Fun stuff – outdoor games, table games.
  • USB batteries to charge your phone
  • Not sure if I mentioned beverages

We’ll have extra stuff.  You can use our RV restroom.  We also have a charging station.  I’ll bring a propane grill and a camp stove that anybody is welcome to use.  We’ll have a charcoal grill going at meal times.  If you need something, just ask.

I’m suggesting 1-6 on Saturday and Sunday as “together time”.  Just a window to encourage a bigger group to show up, or for the morning people to overlap with the evening people.  Sounds like most people are planning to be there on Saturday.

Safety and Courtesy: Please respect our host’s property and leave it better.  Be careful on the river.  Don’t swim alone and make somebody aware if you are taking a boat or float upstream.  Proper safety equipment should be used.  Don’t drive impaired.

Hope to see you there!

Tom

Tom,

Thanks for putting this email together!  I'm planning on being there Saturday for the 1-6 meetup time and will probably camp out Saturday night as well.  I'll bring something to contribute for the Saturday pitch-in, plus beer.

Hey,

We are set up and ready to go.  We have plenty of burgers, chicken and brats. We could use sides - picnic salads, etc.  Maybe some ice later in the day.

C'mon out!

Tom

I'm on my way! I've got some cornbread with me and plenty of snacks plus some beer.
