Hello,

For the past several months we have had problems with starting NMRViewJ (in Linux) – I suspect something broke (or became slightly incompatible) when we did one of the Fedora updates.

The challenge is that when we want to open NMRViewJ (either by clicking the icon or opening via the terminal window), it looks fine at first - both the command window and the menu bar open up, but when we try to use any of the pulldown lists in the menu bar, nothing works.  You can’t type in the command window, either.

The strange thing is that the problem is intermittent.  Sometimes everything works the first time we open the program.  Other times, we need to try 15 times before we get a version of NMRViewJ that works.  I really don’t know what to make of it.

Please help!

Karin

P.S. I’m excited about the notion that we might be able to use NMRViewJ to analyze CPMG data in the (near?) future.

Hi Karin,

Sorry for the trouble, this sounds like a tricky problem.  What version of Fedora are you using?  I think the only way I'll be able to figure this out is to set up a similar system here and experiment with it.

Yes, CPMG stuff is coming.  This is actually in a separate program that we're developing as part of the Center on Macromolecular Dynamics by NMR ( http://comdnmr.nysbc.org ).

The first public release should be relatively soon.  We're also working on optimizing the workflow using our NMRFx Processor tool to process dynamics experiments and get the output into the CoMD/NMR software.

cheers,

Bruce
