My local institution has port 5900 blocked -- can I connect to a VM?

You can access your virtual machine (VM) via an secure shell (SSH) tunnel. From a command prompt (assuming a linux system), type:

 ssh -L 5900:localhost:5900 servername.nmrbox.org

Then connect to localhost in RealVNC VNC Viewer. (That is, enter localhost for server in the VNC Viewer dialog box)
