New Mexicans Rethinking Afghanistan
NMRA: We’re a group of concerned citizens of the Santa Fe area who are
deeply opposed to our nation’s war in Afghanistan.
Our Mission: To create a broad-based local coalition aimed at bringing
an end to U.S. military action in Afghanistan, and also in Iraq. We
urge other Americans here in northern New Mexico to join us in urging
our political leaders to stop the war.
Past Activities: In September we held a Public Forum on the theme
“What About Our War In Afghanistan?,” with a speakers panel consisting
of Ed Rau, former U.S. military attaché to our embassy in
Afghanistan, and Peter Schanck, retired law professor from the
University of Kansas and longtime opponent of the Afghan war. In March
we sponsored another Public Forum, showing the Robert Greenwald
documentary film “Rethink Afghanistan.” Each program was followed by
a Q&A period and public discussion.
Our Website: NMRA has a Google Group with website, enabling individual
posting of messages and contact by e-mail with NMRA members. To get to
it, type in the following full address in the Google search box –
http://groups.google.com. In Search Groups box, print in all caps
NMRA. Click on the New Mexicans Rethinking Afghanistan website. Create
an account (no charge). There you go!
---We believe it is of major importance that full citizen pressure be
brought on the Obama administration to fulfill its initial pledge to
begin ending military action and withdrawing troops from Afghanistan
in July, and its initial pledge to end in December 2011 our military
action in Iraq.
Thank you for your interest. We hope you will get involved.
