Good evening wonderful volunteers,

I'm sorry to inform you all that we lost our new patient Orion this afternoon. Though I know most of you did not get a chance to work with this seal, if anyone has any questions about his case or would like to talk, please reach out to us.

Now that it is only Betelgeuse in ST1 we will be dropping back down to one modified shift per day.
Starting tomorrow through Thursday: PM shift only with a shift start time of 1500.
Friday we will switch back to the AM shift leaving early.

As always, this could change at any time with a space request, so please keep an eye on your emails for call backs.

Thank you for everything you do,
Sydnie

Hello wonderful volunteers,

As you heard from Sydnie, our recent patient Orion, who was admitted Friday afternoon, passed away yesterday.

Orion was in critical condition and his admit diagnostics already indicated life-threatening blood values, severe dehydration, along with other significant findings and issues in his GI system.
We dove deeper into advanced diagnostics this morning post mortem and found the culprit of his condition.

Our radiologist Dr. Wilson analyzed Orion's post mortem studies and found that Orion had experienced trauma to the head and neck.
His cervical spine was foreshortened and mal-aligned with subsequent hemorrhaging and swelling. In addition to this severe injury, his trachea was displaced.
Due to this significant spinal trauma, there was unfortunately nothing we could do to help Orion but we are relieved that his suffering is over.

Thank you for all you do for our patients,
best,
Lisa
