NMIMS - Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, recently organised "Inspire - 2012 Science Camp in Mumbai. The Event was inaugurated by Prof. Rajan Velukar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai.

PRESS RELEASE

INSPIRE – 2012 Science Camp at SPP SPTM

Mumbai, 12 Oct | INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Persuit for Inspired Research) a Science camp for students having 80% and above at 10th level was organized from 1st October to 6th October 2012 by Pharmacy & Technology wing of SVKM’s NMIMS University, Mumbai. This programme was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Event was inaugurated by Prof. Rajan Velukar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai & concluding event was witnessed by Dr. G. D. Yadav, Vice Chancellor, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. Both programmes were presided by Prof. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor & Dr. M. N. Welling Pro Vice Chancellor SVKM’s NMIMS Mumbai respectively. About 22 speakers were invited who are reputed scientists & Bhatnagar awardees across the country.

This Science Camp was attended by more than 300 students from Mithibai College, K. J. Somayya College, Bhavan’s College, Elphinstone College, H R College, Sathye College, Ruia College, Gokhalibai College of Mumbai and R C Patel, H R.Patel Jr. College & KVP College of Shirpur.

Students were also asked to submit their innovative projects in response of which 67 scientific projects were submitted by students. H R Patel Junior college, Shirpur got First award and R. C. Patel Arts & Science Junior college, Shirpur got second award for the best innovative project.

The most important part of the Science Camp was daily practical demonstration of innovation in science by scientists from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ramesh Goyal and Dr. Bala Prabhakar from Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy and Technology Management of SVKM’s NMIMS University.

The event was appreciated by all speakers, students and guests.----ENDS---
