Subject: Volunteer support

Happy Friday Gene,

Thank you for responding to previous email sent out at the beginning of the week.

The Bernalillo County Community Health Council (BCCHC) has recently been contracted by the Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP) of the Behavioral Health Services Division of the NM Human Services Department to plan and implement a Strategic Prevention for Prescription Drugs (SPF Rx) initiative funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP).

We are looking for volunteers who are able to support the Opioid Accountability Initiative, targeted at reducing the behaviors that lead to the abuse and consequences of opioid drug abuse both prescription painkillers and heroin - among youth aged 12-17 and adults 18 years of age and older.

As part of this contract, we will be doing survey research and focus groups in Bernalillo County to determine needs and perceptions related to opioid misuse. The timeline for conducting the New Mexico Community Survey spans from March to April 2017. Data collection efforts will kick off early March. For the focus group piece, we will convene community stakeholders, and our goal is for these meetings, and the accompanying qualitative analyses, completed by March 30, 2017

All volunteers will receive formal training from the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE) in focus group facilitation, survey data collection, and data entry. We are also working to see if we can obtain incentives to thank our volunteers for their support.

The more help the better! Please let me know if these endeavors are appropriate to request support from MPA candidates. For reference please check out the BCCHC website: http://www.bchealthcouncil.org/Bernalillo-County-Opioid-Accountability-Initiative

I look forward to connecting with you!

Sarah
