ASAM's 2011 Course on the State of the Art in Addiction Medicine will meet October 27-29 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC. Register by
October 14 and save $100 off registration rates!

The course is offered only once every two years and is one not to be missed. The program is one-of-a-kind because it includes talks by key leaders at many government agencies, including NIH, NIAAA, NIDA, and ONDCP. Unlike typical conferences that
feature multiple simultaneous workshops, the ASAM State of the Art Course offers a three-day curriculum that showcases a series of carefully selected lectures and audience interactions in a single plenary session, supported by an extensive syllabus.
The Course session topics include:
- Genetics: Shaping Our Understanding of Addiction and Its Treatment;
- Use and Abuse of Prescription Opioids: Current Evidence
- Clinical Challenges in Addiction Medicine: Marijuana and the Cannabinoids
- New Therapeutic Strategies for Co-Occurring Disorders
- Emerging Drugs of Abuse: A Global Perspective
- Integrating Addiction-Related Competencies Into Physician Training and Practice
- Addiction Treatment: New Approaches to Old Problems
A special lunch on Friday has been added to this year's course and will feature an address by Howard K. Koh, M.D., M.P.H., Assistant Secretary for Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
