Folks!

My colleague Julie Staples and I this week got the green light from
Georgetown's IRB for an integrative pilot study [N=30] for trauma
survivors.
Over 8 weeks I'll be delivering 12 hours of group TEAM therapy and
Staples will be delivering 12 hours of a yoga protocol for trauma
developed at
New Mexico’s Guru Ram Das Center. CBT and yoga have each
shown efficacy in reducing trauma symptoms, yet there's no study in the
literature that combines the two in a single intervention. So we
decided to give it a go.

Staples' recent yoga pilot at the New Orleans VA
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23929045
showed efficacy in reducing hyperarousal and improving sleep.
Given the physical loading trauma produces we're hopeful
that a protocol that addresses both body and mind might produce
at least an additive, perhaps a synergistic benefit.

Attached find a program flier; feel free to forward to folks who might
be interested
in knowing what we're up to -

Thanks!

Daniel
