MASSIVE VIDEO AND EDIT PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS POST PRODUCTION RISING CAPABILITIES IN THE STATE

“Life in New Mexicofilm to be shown statewide

SANTA FE, NM – A new statewide video and editing project with involvement from dozens of post-production professionals will highlight the full-service capabilities of the growing post-production industry available to filmmakers at all levels inside New Mexico.

New Mexico has it all when it comes to post-production,” said Dirk Norris, the head of the New Mexico Film Foundation.  “This project is here to tell people that our state has a full slate of talented post-production professionals that can serve all your needs.”

The project, “Life in New Mexico,” received videos from 56 residents across the state and selected 138 video clips for editors to use to make short films for viewing.  All the editors were given the same clips to use in the films, and eight editors made films in the finished product.  In addition, 17 composers offered original music for the final product.

“The inclusive nature of the project, from residents to professional filmmakers, and post-production professionals, made this wild idea a reality over ten months,” said Anne Stirling, executive producer and co-founder of Friends of Film Video and Arts.  “Over 200 people statewide gave generously to make this project work.  It’s a mini-miracle of talent and generosity.”

The editors and composers were asked to take the same 138 clips and demonstrate their abilities in a short film.  The final project that will be shown statewide is just over an hour long.

A statewide viewing of the final project occurs on Sept. 20 and 21 in cities across the state.  On Sept. 20, there will be showings in Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Clovis, Farmington, Gallup, Hobbs, Las Cruces, Roswell, Ruidoso, and Santa Fe.  On Sept. 21, showings will be held in Albuquerque, and Taos.

Partners for “Life in New Mexico” Collaborative Media Project include the New Mexico Film Foundation, the New Mexico Post Alliance, the Friends of Film Video and Arts, and the NM Tourism Department.  Other sponsors include Abode Creative Cloud, the Santa Fe Macintosh Users Group, DigiEffects, and Allen Theatres, where the film will be screened around the state as well as the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, Taos Center for the Arts and the South Broadway Cultural Center in Albuquerque.

New Mexico has developed a full-service industry for post-production, and this project shows that we’re ready to do great productions here,” said Brad Stoddard, editorial producer and president of the New Mexico Post Alliance.

The tax rebate also makes doing post-production in the state more attractive, as the producers get 25% of their funding back if the job is done within the state, said Norris.

“With the talent we have and the rebate as well, post-production should look very attractive to producers all over the country,” he said.

The editors in the project are Shelene Bridge, Ashley Castaneda, Casey Curtiss, Carter Dubois, Elizabeth Dwyer, Chris Paul, Giuseppe Quinn, and Allison Wortman
