Dear Curators of “Good Vibes”,
Funny how “tradition” keeps changing shape depending on who’s using it. One minute it’s this big collective thing everyone has to live up to, the next minute it’s flexible enough to fit… whatever this is.
An invite-only farewell. For a batch event. Across four batches. That’s not even subtle.
And the timing is hard to miss. The speed at which this showed up, almost right after being called out, makes it difficult to see this as anything other than damage control dressed up as initiative. If this was always the plan, it’s strange how it seems to have only appeared now.
To be clear, invite-only parties like this have always been the norm. That’s not the issue. The issue is presenting something that follows that same selective format as if it meaningfully responds to concerns about a lack of shared experience.
Also, the logic is interesting. The complaint was about a lack of shared experience, and the answer is to narrow down who even gets to be part of one. Because obviously the way to deal with exclusion is to organise it better.
Of course, this isn’t about names or lists, that would be far too straightforward.
But it does raise a basic question. If something is being put out as a farewell for the batch, why does it suddenly feel like something you have to be filtered into?
And the consistency is almost impressive, calling out others for not contributing enough, and then turning one of the only “collective” moments into a controlled-access space.
At this point, it’s fair to ask, this is a farewell, right? Not just a guest list with better lighting?
No hostility. Just trying to understand what exactly is being organised here.
Regards,
A concerned observer
