The Centre for Disability Studies and Empowerment invites applications for the re-constitution for the upcoming academic session, 2026-27. If you care about accessibility, disability rights, policy reform, and campus and beyond campus-level implementation, we welcome your application.Objectives:
- Conduct interdisciplinary research in disability law, policy, employment and assistive technology.
- Serve as a capacity-building partner for government departments, PSUs and universities on accessibility and reasonable accommodation.
- Publish accessible scholarship, including policy briefs, working papers and plain-language guides.
- Develop data-driven policy recommendations and model rules for governments and agencies.
- Operate an Accessibility Lab and conduct campus and public accessibility audits.
- Support placements, employer sensitisation and PwD-led recruitment initiatives.
- Organise conclaves, screenings and outreach events with full accessibility (SLI, captions, alt text).
Work done till now and in progress:
- Selection of multiple members for the UN Millennium Fellowship.
- Ongoing sensitisation workshops across campus and at external institutions.
- Development of a website compliant with WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines.
- Establishment of the Rajiv K. Luthra–NLUJ Accessibility Lab.
- Launch and active maintenance of the CDSE Blog.
- Successful procurement of a Golf Cart on CDSE's recommendation to enhance campus mobility.
- Submission of a formal Campus Accessibility Audit Report.
- Ongoing negotiations with companies to improve accessibility infrastructure across campus.
- Conducting surveys across Rajasthan and Gujarat as part of the Supreme Court-mandated Project Ability Empowerment, which remains ongoing.
- Facilitation of UDID card, in collaboration with government authorities, for disabled people across Jodhpur.
- More ramps have been built
- Working with RICC to enhance career opportuntiies for PwDs
