What are your thoughts on Linux for Mobile?

I've got a good daily driver, but an old mobile phone as well that I'm playing around with.  Thinking of throwing lineage OS on there and seeing what benefits I can gain.  Wondering if anyone in the group has any experience with other Linux based mobile operating systems and the glory rumored to be had there.  Have you done a project like this?  What advantages/disadvantages did you encounter with the OS?  What did you run?

Hey Adam,

I've been wanting to try Lineage too. I have at least one old Samsung S4 I could experiment with.

Lineage is just Android minus the Google Apps. You have to manually flash the Google apps in. It's just Android though so you're not getting a full on Linux experience. If you're looking for an actual Linux operating system for a device check out UBPorts (Ubuntu Touch). They have ports for quite a few devices. Go to UBPorts.com and check out the supported devices. You may have to purchase a used older device to do it. That's the way to get a true Linux OS on your device.
