I know a lot of people's eyes glaze over when this kind of thing gets brought up, but this is an opportunity to revitalize our group. If there's anything you'd like to see improved about NLUG, here's a good opportunity.
I'd been wanting to get my hands on a copy of our constitution and by-laws for some time. Andrew McElroy found an old version on
archive.org so I've posted that to
https://nlug.org/constitution/.If anyone has a more recent version, please share and I'll update the site. Let's definitely discuss this in next week's meeting. If there aren't any more recent versions, we can start with this and vote any needed changes accordingly.
Elections
First of all, we are overdue for holding elections. I am not trying to be one of those dictators that stops holding elections once they get voted in. I just didn't have a copy of our documents to go by to know how it's done. Apologies if this turned into a banana republic.
Second, I could use help running the group. Or, if a new leader is voted in, they would likely want help. Anyone out there willing to consider a position on the team? Also, thank you to those of you who have been chipping in with or without official titles or roles.
See the constitution and by-laws for more details on the roles and committees available. At a high level, it would be great to get more help planning topics and presentations and promoting the group. I'm sure there are also many of you infinitely more qualified to maintain our website than I am. Installfests or equivalent outreach to newbies is another area we could use help.
