New issue 522 by crodriguezp: UIMA-NLTK integration
http://code.google.com/p/nltk/issues/detail?id=522

Create interconnectivity between NLTK & UIMA pipelines in order to combine
available modules and analysis engines from both architectures, maybe using
Jython as bridge. NLTK/Python rapid prototyping and versatility meets UIMA
robustness and adaptability.

Challenges:
- incompatible classes/"types" and CAS/"type system" frameworks
- stand-off annotation vs. python data classes
- java/python code packaging

Possible code reuse:
- PyCas by Ed Loper
- UIMA sandbox BSF Annotator

Has anyone moved on this issue at all?
PS: Jython would probably be very painful. I looked into it, and it is very
difficult to construct annotator pipelines

python -> Jython/XML -> Java UIMA --> CPE, CAS, Consumers

Very painful indeed.
