Greetings from Miranda House Debating society!

 

As informed in the last e-mail, we are organizing our parliamentary debating tournament, Dialectics 2013 from 6^th to 8^th April 2013.The details regarding the event are a follows:

Format 

The Tournament shall follow the rules as laid in the All-Asian Debating Constitution. Each round will be theme-based with semi close-ended motions.

Adjudication core

We are proud to introduce our experienced and proficient adjudication core comprising-

• Pradyumana Bhattacharya : Pradyumana has been a chief adjudictor at Manzar 2012, FTD 2011 and 2010, Wax Eloquent 2011 and an invitational adjudicator at various other tournaments. He has also been a finalist at Premchand 2010, Thadani memorial debate 2010,Acropolis 2009 and has broken at LSR 2008, Premchand 2008, People Speak 2009, Manzar 2010,Gambit 2011 and Dialectics 2010 to name a few. Currently Pradyumana is a student at the Department of Phyisics and Astrophysics,University of Delhi.

• Shobhit Nanda : Shobhit has won at Mukharji Memorial 2013,FTD 2012,Tashi 2012, BITS pilani 2012, Manzar 2012, Thadani Memorial debate 2012,People Speak 2010 and 2011 and been a Chief Adjudicator at Polemic 2012 and 2013. He has also been a finalist at Mukharji Memorial 2012,SRDF 2012,FTD 2011,Tashi 2011,Thadani Memorial debate 2011, Shantinarayan 2011 and Acropolis 2011.

• Shubhangi Shukla: An ex-Mirandian, Shubhangi had been part of our debating society when it was being established and was a finalist at Gambit,SRCC in 2009 and 2010.She was also the tournament director of Manzar 2010 and coordinator during Dialectics 2009.

Prize Money

We will be giving out prizes worth atleast 1 lakh. A detailed breakup of the prizes and the rule book will be provided shortly.

Registration

•     We have put a team cap of 3 per institution. For additional teams please send an email to this id.

•   For adjudicators, we are following the N+1 rule.

•     No cross teams are allowed.

•      For registering teams and adjudicators, please refer to the link given below

•    The last date of registration is 30^th March 2013 for local teams.Outstation teams are requested to register by 25^th March 2013.

•    Registration fees –

Outstation teams and adjudicators – Rs. 1000 per member

Local teams – Rs. 250 per member

Local adjudicators – NIL                                       

Accommodation 

For outstation teams, we will provide accommodation from 5^th night to 9^th morning. The charges are included in the registration fees (food is not included). For outstation participants not in need of accommodation, local charges will be applicable.
