Sir/ Ma'am,

The English Debating and Literary Club, IIT Delhi is pleased to invite you to the 8th IIT Delhi Parliamentary Debate to be held from 7th March to 10th March, 2013.

The team members (must carry ID cards) need to be full-time undergraduate students (for law/engineering schools, 4th and 5th year students of joint/dual degree programmes are admissible) while the adjudicators can be post-graduates or alumni of your institution. This year for the first time, we are allowing cross teams (teams with people from different academic institutions only) to participate.As always, we would provide food for all participants including a break night party and accommodation for outstation teams.

Chief Adjudicators:

Aashay Sahay (RVCE Bangalore)

Aashay, the creator of the largest Indian debate portal (Debater’s Diary) has been a part of the Adjudication Core at QED (2013), IIT – B (2012), NALSAR IV (2012), RVDT (2011), Xavier BP (2011). He has also won various national debating tournaments at Ramjas, Christ University, PEC, MSR and being the best speaker at Mukarji Memorial and NUJS among others. He has had the eminence of breaking at every international tournament he has been to including UADC (2011, 2010), Asian BP (2011, 2010, 2009). Furthermore, he was an adjudicator on invitation at the Asian BP (2011).

Eashan Ghosh (NLS Bangalore, Oxford University)

Eashan was the finals adjudicator, shadow adjudication core at AUDC (2009) being the third breaking competitive judge. He formed the part of the adjudication core at Mukarji Memorial (2012), NALSAR IV (2012) and at PEC (2012, 2011), NLU – D (2012, 2011) which highlights his recall value. His adjudication career includes best adjudicator distinctions at Shantinarayan (2010), IIT – D (2009), Premchand (2009), NUJS (2009) and best speaker mentions at RVDT (2011), MSR (2010). He has also won highly acclaimed open tournaments including BITS Pilani Open (2013) and IIT – B (2011).

Karandeep Aazaan Khanna (Ramjas College, Faculty of Law)

Karan has been a part of the second Indian team that broke at inaugural UADC (2010) at Assumption University, Bangok. He has been on the adjudication core at Vivaad (2012), RGNUL (2011) and shall be seen at Polemic (2013). His debating career includes wins at IIT – D (2012), IIT – B (2011), NLU – D (2012, 2011), Premchand (2011), Tashi (2011) and best speaker positions at Wax Eloquent (2013), and NLU – D (2012), and the second best at IIT - D (2012), Mukharji Memorial (2012).

Siddhartha Thyagarajan (Ramjas College, University of Exeter)

Thyaga needs no introduction. He has been awarded the Lifetime Honorary Membership to the University of Exeter (UK) Debating Society, usually awarded to MPs. Thyaga was on the adjudication core at QED (2013) and shall also be seen at Polemic (2013). He has been the best adjudicator at Shantinarayan (2011), FTD (2011), Gambit (2009), Thadani (2009). He has been a part of the winning team at Premchand (2011), NLU – D (2011), IIT – B (2010), Manzar (2010, 2000), NLS (2008) and finalist at tournaments he cannot even recall.

Utkarsh Ohm (IIT Delhi)

Utkarsh has been an integral part of our debating fraternity. He was the CA at IIT – K (2012), has been a Finalist adjudicator at IIT – D (2012) and a Semi-finalist adjudicator at Miranda House Dialectics (2011).
