I'll try and forward all announcements of conferences that have any
English. (Or I could forward all if there interest.)
I went to the below one-day conference a couple of years ago and it was
good. At the Todai Hongo campus (central Tokyo). It seems to be an
English (or German?) presentation in the morning, then a poster session
(on Chinese-Japanese translation), then Japanese presentations in the
afternoon. It is free but you need to register.

第５回「機械翻訳技術のイノベーション」シンポジウム開催のお知らせ
独立行政法人情報通信研究機構、独立行政法人科学技術振興機構、東京大学、
静岡大学、京都大学では、科学技術振興調整費による重点課題解決型研究
「日中・中日言語処理技術の開発研究」を平成18年度から実施しております。
今年が最終年度の第5回目となります本シンポジウムでは、プロジェクトの成果
の全容を各参画チームの代表による講演と、デモ・ポスター展示によってご報告
いたします。尚、10時よりHans Uszkoreit氏（DFKI/ザール大学）による招待講演
も予定しております。多数の皆様のご参加をお待ち申し上げます。
日時：２０１１年２月２３日（水）１０時から１８時（開場９時３０分）
会場：東京大学大学院 本郷キャンパス 福武ホール

１１時〜１８時 デモ （スタジオにて）

☆講演者のご紹介（10:00-11:00 メイン会場にて）
Prof. Hans Uszkoreit is one of the leading figures in natural language
processing, computational linguistics, and machine translation. He has
been leading many projects funded by European Union, and currently
coordinator of the European Network of Excellence META-NET.
Professor Uszkoreit is Professor of Computational Linguistics at
Saarland University. At the same time he serves as Scientific Director
at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) where
he heads the DFKI Language Technology Lab. By cooptation he is also
Professor of the Computer Science Department.
He studied Linguistics and Computer Science at the Technical University
of Berlin. He co-founded the Berlin city magazine Zitty, for which he
worked as an part-time editor and writer. In 1977, he received a
Fulbright Grant for continuing his studies at the University of Texas at
Austin. During his time in Austin he also worked as a research associate
in a large machine translation project at the Linguistics Research
Center. In 1984 Uszkoreit received his Ph.D. in linguistics from the
University of Texas. From 1982 until 1986, he worked as a computer
scientist at the Artificial Intelligence Center of SRI International in
Menlo Park, Ca. While working at SRI, he was also affiliated with the
Center for the Study of Language and Information at Stanford University
as a senior researcher and later as a project leader.
