As part of its strong international growth, Vision Objects (Nantes, France) is looking for a: Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engineer
In the Language Resources team, and in close collaboration with the Technology team, the NLP Engineer will take the lead in new language pack developments and be proactive about improving current processes.
Taking advantage of her/his double Computer Science/Linguistics background, s/he will complete the following tasks:
- Creation and maintenance of language resources and supervision of their integration into the handwriting recognition engine.
- Constitution and processing of representative corpora.
- Analysis of handwriting styles commonly used in various languages.
- Participation in the process of collecting handwriting samples.
- Research and development on language models (involving statistics, syntax or semantics), and their applications to human-machine interfaces.
- In sync with the Support team, study and analysis of customer use cases.
Holding a Masters followed by 3 years of working experience or holding a PhD, you have extensive experience in NLP or in a related field (artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, machine learning...). Your hands-on experience of at least one programming language used in NLP (e.g. Perl or Python) gives you autonomy in completing all your technical tasks.

Fluent English is mandatory.
Any of the following would be a plus: knowledge of C, C++ or Java, good control of scripting tools (bash, Unix/Linux tools), experience with automation of NLP processing chains, knowledge of French, fluency in other languages.
