Hi,

I'm trying to connect to LinkNet, which requires SSL, using XChat-2.0.2 on
Linux. I get the following error message:

--- Looking up irc.link-net.org..
--- Connecting to irc.link-net.org (64.202.115.2) port 6667..
--- Connection failed. Error: (336130315) error:1408F10B:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number

What does this error mean? Are my openssl libraries not up-to-date?

Thanks,
Dan

That usually means that 64.202.115.2 port 6667 is *not* a SSL server.
Most networks will run their ssl server on port 9999 or 994.
