De gevangenisgijzeling in Ecuador is
voorbij,alle gevangenismedewerkers zijn
bevrijd.Gevangenen hielden sinds
maandag 136 medewerkers gegijzeld.
In totaal werden er 178 medewerkers
gegijzeld,een aantal werd gedurende de
week al vrijgelaten.De gijzeling begon
nadat de Ecuadoraanse president Daniel
Noboa het leger inzette tegen criminele
bendes.De gevangenen kwamen in opstand
en gijzelden het gevangenispersoneel.
President Noboa heeft voor twee maanden
de noodtoestand afgekondigd.Hij wil de
strijd aangaan met de gewelddadige
drugsbendes in het Zuid-Amerikaanse
land.Ecuador is één van de grootste
coke-knooppunten ter wereld.
