* Q & A s
- WILL OLDHAM: Does the man need an introduction? No. Last
year he
exclaimed 'I See A Darkness'. Now he saw our questions. Who
is he?
Will Oldham. The replies? Short and simple. Because
sometimes the
music is all that is necessary.
- MOGWAI: Good music doesn't necessarily need vocals. The
Scottish
band Mogwai are probably better off without. Landscapes of
sound,
really gentile and sweet with earbleeding outbursts. Mogwai
genius
Stuart Braithwaite: "The New York Police Department once
closed our
show down because of the
volume."
- MELT BANANA: Japanese Melt Banana, barely able to catch
their
breath after a world tour and the (re)release of several
albums, are yet again busy wrapping up another brand new
album. But in between all of this (typical?) hectic activity
they managed to find the time to answer some questions...
- COAL CHAMBER: Although Coal Chamber was mentioned as a
Korn-clone
before, their latest recording 'Chamber Music' definitely
proves
their own unique sound and style: "With our latest album we
wanted
to step away from the music coming out, like Limp Bizkit or
Korn and push ourselves to see if we could be mature
musicians."
(Next up: Looper, Prick Decay, Fence, Mr. Bungle, June of

RACHEL STAMP is one of the upcoming bands frequently
mentioned in
the same sentence with bands like Placebo and Manic Street
Preachers. With their rock music, lots of make-up, glitters
and
dresses these glam-punks will probably conquer the European
mainland
this year, after several sold out shows on their current UK
tour...

On December 11th 1998, LYNN STRAIT from SNOT got killed in a
car
accident. In a FEATURE we want to commemorate this tragedy
and asked people in today's music scene what the loss of
Lynn and his band Snot meant to them. Read on for exclusive
responses by SYSTEM OF A DOWN, ULTRASPANK and COAL CHAMBER.
