Seriously it barely works before and now you can't even sign in? The old way was way better and now for some reason they over complicated and ruined the whole thing.

I will probably have to hock my stream deck on facebook and find something that doesn't suck.

At the moment Stream Deck doesn't contain the APIs to let Keyboard Maestro change the profiles. That's definitively something that we want to address in a future Stream Deck version. However at the moment I don't have a specific estimated date.

In my case using "Trigger Apps" is the best work around. I created a bunch of apps that do nothing and have no windows. I've created macros that close the apps as soon as they launch. Then I assigned the apps to specific profiles of my Stream Deck. So for example if I wanted the keystroke "command + option + G" to open Profile 1 on my Stream Deck, I would assign that key command to launch an app which I have assigned to Profile 1. As soon as it launches it will close but not before switching to Profile 1. It works like a charm and it's pretty straight forward to setup!

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention, I absolutely turn off the default profile, I now exclusively use KM to manage my profiles. If I want 'default' profile behavior, but want to behave in a very customized way, I can do that with KM (set timeouts on profiles, etc...). None of this can be done if you use Streamdeck to manage your profiles.

It is currently not possible to change the profile via the command line or AppleScript.

We do have an API in the Stream Deck SDK to let a plugin switch to another profile ( -deck/sdk/events-sent/#switchtoprofile ) but this API at this moment only support preconfigured profiles built in a plugin. So you can't use it to switch to a random profile.

In each group, I have a macro called "Launch Streamdeck buttons" which assigns an icon and text to each of the 15 buttons. (I keep a template of all "blanks" at the top, so that duplicating this is always fast.) In the Main group, this macro runs at engine launch, so when I turn on my computer, this macro assigns icons and text to all my keys.

One of my buttons/macros simply "switches profiles". It does this by enabling my 2nd Macro Group, running the macro in that group that reassigns the icons and text to all 15 buttons, and then disables the Main group (which this macro is in.)

Is it so you are basically making one big grid of KM macros that switch on the fly and that in other profiles you dont even have to add the KM macro to the StreamDeck profile since your solution is a programmable "grid" of KM macros?

keyskeys .. The reason for this is that otherwise there is no programatic way to switch profiles, richtack's solution allows for essentially that. Imagine a scenario where you run a macro in KM and as a result of that macro you want your Streamdeck to land on a specific profile when it's done. This will allow you to do that.

You can use Streamdeck to switch profiles based on what app is running, but that's about it. If you want one KM macro (or more complex environment variables) to switch "profiles", you need a workaround like this. Now, I can have a KM trigger a "profile" switch.

And then you're unlimited to what you can do. For example, If I wanted just to have StreamDeck switch profiles when I'm using an app like ScreenFlow, I can do that. But KM as the solution, I can switch to my "ScreenFlow" specific Macro Group on the StreamDeck any time ScreenFlow is running, even in the background - which is really great when I'm recording videos on my computer.

When you copy and paste you break the reference to the actual key that you set it up to be. Yes you can change in KM. but I have a feeling your method would allow for easier moving around of KM macros on the stream deck.

Hi there! I have a Elgato Stream Deck XL(upgraded from the normal sized one) I absolutely love it. The way I have implemented most commands is simply by creating a text button on the stream deck and then typing in the command:

The reason I said this way is more flexible is because it separates away the physical structure of the StreamDeck from the trigger. This allows me to freely rearrange my stream deck without having to worry about going in and messing with my KM triggers.

gposcidonio That works perfectly... excellent solution. And I agree this is nice in allowing you to arrange the Stream Desk profiles without having to edit the row/column positions. Very nice - thanks.

You can also achieve this by making a KM trigger file. And "open' that (as if it is an application) from Stream Deck.

That is how i used to do this before KM9.

But, i love the ability to change the stream deck icon and text by KM.

You can create profiles not tied to be switched to when an app is activated. E.g. You could have a podcast ing profile, a blogging profile, a work profile. Manual switching for such profiles means you can have multiple profiles available in any app, but you may have designed them for a single app.

possible to share your macro for this? Very interested in simplifying my stream deck setup for streaming and music production and having multiple profiles that i can paste into different pages that go back up a page instead of always to the home screen would be amazing.

Overall I would map hotkeys like crazy to stream deck buttons. I have most hotkeys in obsidian map to things like ctrl+alt+key perhaps a stream deck could help allivate the need to press so many buttons for triggering hotkeys

I use a mix of both and for different reasons. I have profiles for apps that I use a lot such as Evernote, Photoshop, PowerPoint etc. These are often to hotkeys and macros that are specific to what I am doing with those apps.

I bought a 32-key Elgato Stream Deck because I was getting tired of remembering (and running out) of hotkey combinations. And at the time, I was ramping up my streaming game and wanted to add a little convenience to my life. What I didn't expect was the ridiculous amount of power and macro-pad like the Stream Deck enables.

I originally set up the Deck with a bank of simple launcher keys for opening applications. And that works fine. But I quickly discovered the concept of profiles and the process of assigning a profile to an application.

I use Streamdeck. I used some generic icons which do the job but aren't really specific to Evernote. I have just a few buttons set up for actions I use regularly. I could probably remember the keyboard shortcuts but the buttons are just a bit easier.

Delete Note was a bit fiddly. It depends where you have focus. If the note focus is in the note list then all you need is to tap the Delete key. If, though, you have focus in the note itself then you need to switch focus to the list and then tap delete. Alt+Ctrl+\ followed by Del. I achieved that with a hotkey outside Streamdeck using AutoHotkey. So Alt+Shift+/ does everything necessary. I can use that from the keyboard or have it mapped to Streamdeck.

I just started playing DCS and got myself the F-14B, which is extremely awesome! I'm in the midst of setting everything up. Everything being a new HOTAS, new desk, new PC, and of course a new Stream Deck. I noticed there was a void of Stream Deck profiles for the F-14B, so I decided to make my own.

The F-14B Stream Deck profile is still in the works. I am designing and Photoshopping custom icons for it. I've noticed that some of you use Stream Decks in some form of a sim pit. I've made sure the design in my stream deck profile is a "recreation" of the actual buttons found in the F-14B's various panels to give it some authentic vibes (to the best of my ability). I'm trying to see if I can get it to control all the buttons, switches and more without having too many sub-menus for ease of use as well. Lastly I've made a little menu for those of you using the awesome VAICOM PRO + AIRIO program. For those who aren't using VAICOM, I've also made a simple menu to control Jester as well.

This is an amazing plugin to combine the Steamdeck with the Toliss Aircraft. It runs perfect. Can you change the font from the FCU to the old font. You are using the modern font like in the FF A350 FCU.

I can highly advise a software called Elephant, if you use Windows and have a multi-button mouse. Kind of the same thing as stream deck, just all on the mouse. It also allows mapping of a Surface Dial to anything you can click or assign keys to. Amazing software, but poorly marketed so not well used.

I have so many good things to say about the StreamDeck support. Making nice icons is no longer loads of work. Long press and release triggers save loads of space. Not being limited to 'profiles' opens up a lot of possibilities.

The problem with using those with Maschine is a 'profile' won't allow you to do much because Maschine has very few keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) and that's what these devices use so keys trigger events in software, so you never see any built-in profiles (or custom for that matter) out there for Maschine unless it's for very basic stuff.

I ended up getting inspired and created my first version of a Maschine Stream Deck profile from all of the shortcuts I could find. I used default icons from the included stream deck packs and am using the 15 button stream deck mobile on a couple of iPhones and an iPad.

Elgato Stream Deck is basically a customizable keypad where software can change both the images on the keypads and the function of each key. It is primarily marketed toward gaming streamers, but there is actually nothing about it specific to gaming.
