Chair and ALL,

With due respect, I do not see how the numbers will reach 25, if the silence from the members is something that I have to go by. By the way, this is March 2, 2014. Month end is already gone. Lets accept that, maybe, we have not fully embraced the idea of helping our former school. Yet, I am so sure  many of us can afford a MK1000, MK2000, MK3000...We can afford to forego four bottles of beers etc ie if we really wanted to help. I do not believe that the task at hand, the task of helping NKHABOSS, is a mammoth one...an impossible one!!! I believe this task is within our reach if we really wanted to do it. If we were so united and committed to this cause, it is within our reach to change the face of NKHABOSS into one success alumni story...

I am more than convinced that we will keep talking and nothing tangible will be done. Doesnt it surprise us that people who passed through NKHABOSS in the 70s/80s have gone quiet!!! They quickly made their contributions hoping that that would inspire those of us who went to NKHABOSS in the 90s/2000s...Of course, I am not speaking on their behalf but my gut feeling makes me believe that, as a grouping, we have let many people down. We have let ourselves down. We have let the school down. There is need for us to redeem ourselves!!!

For me, Chair, my thoughts!!! I would suggest we use the funds available to purchase mattresses...be it 10, 12, 13...that will still change the welfare of a few boys at NKHABOSS. Once that is done, I insist the current executive should resign to pave way for new blood, new ideas. After all, the current executive has outlived its existence. Of course, members of the current executive are still eligible in the next elections. Once the new executive is ushered in, there is need to come up with a roadmap for Nkhaboss Alumni development projects.

These are my thoughts. My apologies for sounding like a devils disciple!!!

Dear Colleagues-It sounds like the current leadership and us all had planned to buy 25 mattresses for the school during this phase.Given the balance we currently have, what is the shortfall? Probably when the group knows, it will inspire some to come in and to chip in they little they can spare towards meeting the difference.

Steve I hear you  but still don't believe that the solution is dissolving the current leadership committee. I remember what Ralph Kasambara's father used to advise us for his chichewa class that when we were in form two that when you find the exam question  difficult, it will not be only yourself facing the difficulty but a good number of students. At this point, you just have to keep going like Johnny Walker.

Going forward, I would like to join the chair  and his committee to appeal to us all to be a little patriotic and selfless. They say "blessed is the hand that giveth".Given the difficulties our economy is going through, even if people put in MK500, we would all understand. We still can move from where we are currently.

Have an enjoyable week!

I think ada Mphande is right. Let us find out the cost of 25 matresses. Should there be a shortfall, let us all contribute towards that and make sure the stuff is delivered at school on a date to be proposed by the group.

Last time I contributed 5 mattresses which were dropped by the chair.

On the suggestion to have Regional committees, we had one in Mzuzu. It, just like this forum, eventually disappeared.  At least this forum does resurrect.

This time around I pledge again 5 mattresses whenever we are ready to drop them

Steve don't rush the chair. let's revise our timeline and allow more resources to be mobilized so that we supply more mattresses. The prices are slightly stable for now so no fear of loosing the Kwacha value.

Ada Kawonga,

Indeed the stability of the kwacha was my major worry. With elections approaching, you cannot tell how the kwacha will behave. While we await more contributions, is it not possible to buy the mattresses using the money we have and stockpile them somewhere...I am sure a few nkhaboss alumni members could provide some space for safekeeping while we mobilize more resources from members...my thoughts!

Am equally pleased with the new momentum on contributions. Lets continue putting in something. The strength lies in numbers. The kwacha seem to be gaining and with tobacco season its likely to remain so. However the idea of buying now could be good or not depending on some analysis. For stability of price I would say lets buy and stockpile. But on the other hand, if we wait we might have more money and perhaps get a better price.

Every new contribution is an addition and we should strive for the best. Lets put in anything we can abale.

Thanks
Phaniso
