Dear All,

I wanted to ask for direction and provide my views of the actions we agreed upon last year. September came and went and less than 10 people met their pledges.

Reminders yielded nothing. So it would seem we are just a bunch of talkers. Majority want to keep money in the pocket (influence from Atcheya)

I wanted to propose that whatever is there be used to purchase the last mattresses and abandon the group.

Regards
Jephter

Dear Chair et al,

Indeed, we have failed to yield what we had set as an Association. Somehow, It appears we do not really want to see things move forward for our old school. We have tried everything but we remain full of promises. I, therefore, second the motion passed by the Chair.

Cheers

We certainly should know how much is in the account but abandoning the group just because of   One project which has failed doesn't seem right ! I am sure we can transform the school which contributed to making what we are today ! We need to be persistent and creative gentlemen, quitting is not the solution !

Hi all,

I would like propose that there is need to strengthen our structures or groups at regional levels. for example, South, Central and North.

I strongly believe we need to know each other at these levels through some meetings, then share notes from the three regions on the way forward. I think this group is not progressing because we only talk through networks. A chair abandoning the group is not  a solution, may be lets go to the drawing board and check some means to revitalise the group. I will give you an example, I am a catholic myself, there are groups such as friends of Dioceses in Malawi, these groups meet once in while, such that when if there are functions relating to their respective dioceses, they cheerfully contribute together as one. Oneness is most crucial to begin with. Remember, we had graduated  at different years hence need to first deepen the knowledge of who is who and where. This can even lead to organising some fundraising activities for our school Nkhaboss.

I  am strongly of the view that the group should not be abandoned. A chair, lets just work on another plan to revitalise the group, am sure it will  gear up!

Regards,
Jacob Mbeya.

Thanks a lot.

This idea could be the right one. We can start making meetings at Regional level and then later at national level.

This will help us to strengthen our relation deeper and stronger, and our objectives can easily be reached.

The cause is genuine and the right thing to pursue. May be we are using wrong methods of resource mobilisation (both material and membership).

The excitement when it comes to historical discussions is always high. And of course most of us do not contribute any penny. I am no exception.

The economy in the country at present (and for the past years) is so bad that it has become so difficult for one to commit and implement.

While quitting at this stage will not serve any purpose, that we have not done much is clear.

The chair has been very great all through and through. Thumbs up to you adada Jephter. But he needs support. Let him head a new committee. We should bring in fresh minds, energies, strategies and ideas!

The IT guy Dan and treaturer Winner have been great too. Ada Musopole so good at publicity, always first to respond. And ada mphande uku kutali and the rest contributed very well!

Let's have new elections at regional and then national level. If this is agreeable by all.

Dear Chair and colleagues-Your sentiments are quite deflating and may be to some extent reflective of what is happening in our political circles where most of us are just talkers and not doers and see the smaller good rather than the greater good of society and our country at large. If this is happening to educated people like us that attained Secondary school education, what would one expect from villagers given such less desirable  attitude?

Whilst the suggestion to proceed to buy mattresses and abolish the group sounds appetizing since we are failing to converge on  the objective for which it was set up,I wish to slightly vary your suggestion chair if you may allow me to.I to propose that you give us enough rope to hand ourselves by giving us a deadline of March 2,2014 for those that haven't yet made a contribution to do so even if it is MK1000 so that we can bump up what we set to achieve.I agree with those that have suggested to  set up regional groupings and ensure that we don't abandon the group.

When we cannot do simple things like giving back to the society that made us what we are today in whatever form and shape, one wonders whether what education did was impart on us such huge amounts of knowledge and left our inert primitivism intact.

I am sad with this observation I must admit.

Dear All,

What I suggest to the secretary is that if he could share names of all members in our  NKHABOSS family including  their contact details.

This will help us to follow up some issues when it comes to contributions and other related issues. We must be open and ready to share whatever we feel like sharing and if there are a  few  of us who feel uncomfortable with such communications through e-mails let them notify the IT Administrator, so that they can be helped in a better way. Calling for a total disbanding of the grouping would be suicidal and naïve.

We are looking forwarding to getting dates of our meetings in three regions ASAP.

Dear ALL,

Just for your records, we have tried organizing meetings before. The first BT meeting attracted some reasonable numbers. Later on, the numbers started dwindling. As for contributions, it is evident we have shunned that and yet, from the onset, it was clear that one can make any contribution according to "kupata kwawo"...we had even said even a MK1000 could make a difference! Alas, all that never yielded much. Nevertheless, we need to applaud all those who have made their contributions.

I think generally, as one of the members in the committee, guys, we tried. Yes, we have had our shortfalls. Yes, we could have done better. But Personally, I do not see how else I can do things to make people change their perspective on this matter. I am fully aware that I have not done much to the satisfaction of the grouping but I entirely support the idea of elections being held and ushering in new leadership. Lets give it one more try with new leadership in place...

Chair, what do you have to say???

To be honest, the enthusiam has been great at times but the action disappointing. Perhaps its just a question of trust. In as much as we need meetings, but I cannot just understand why all of us bwanas cannot send our numerous driver, workmate, son or whoever to deposit K1000 for a good and just cause.

Several people tried showed the way by donating generously koma ayi ndithu the momentum has dwindled at the time action was needed.

May be, as Steve suggests, let's have new leaders with fresh ideas.

Dan, please check balance tione chomwe tingapange as we sign off to give new blood a chance!

I am sure you are all right but now we need to try it again. We also need to change our minds. Setting up new committee members won’t change things much because we are the same people, but calling for a real

Hi steve,

Are we supposed to contribute a specific amount of cash?

I have been unable to follow the debate. And how does one do so?

Although folks may not be coming to the party, one doesn't have to give up on an initiative like this along as there are a few dedicated souls. Thats the only way good things happen back home.

I haven't had time of late but could contribute something little cash wise.

Moni.

Chair ,Steve and colleagues,
There comes a time in life that one has to face reality.Behaving like an ostrich is not a solution at all that we burry our heads in sand hoping that the problem is going to go away. Supporting change of leadership is not addressing the problem head on because I personally have not seen anything wrong that the current leadership has done.Lets give credit where it is due.The leadership team we have has been consultative, has never with held information and clearly outlined the cause which we set out to achieve.

The  basic problem we have here is that even the minimum contribution sought is not being made regardless of whatever text book excuse we can use. Excuses of whatever magnitude do not solve issues. They just postpone solutions to existent problems. To me, the issue is that we are being selfish by not doing the basic obligation of not contributing whatever we have.. Lets do whatever we can for the phase that you guys have set out to achieve-because that's our basic objective and then deal with regional leadership issues later.I seriously feel that we need to aim at achieving the first task and let us give each other the morale to call one member each and remind them to contribute whatever they have .If some of us can call two people and remind them, the better. This is a simple task and not much science or experimentation is involved.Lets just do it and move to the next phase.
